7 Fattest Cities In The World - Outside Of America

The fattest cities in the world all have some things in common. All locations with an overabundance of overweight individuals seem to have the same trends going on whether they are inside of or outside of America. And it is not hard to figure out which factors lead to large numbers of overweight individuals as you see that certain changes are made to societies and their weights slowly, or not so slowly, begin to creep up.

Isn't The US The Home Of The Fattest Cities?

It is true that the US lays claim to some of the fattest cities in the world but it by no means holds a monopoly on this market. While you may be more likely to hear about the health problems at home, cities around the world are struggling with weight problems and it seems as though more are joining this trend toward fatness with each passing year. The US is just one country in a world that seems to be just getting fatter as a whole.

Can You Predict The Fatness?

Sadly, the greater level of overweight individuals in a city or even a country is entirely predictable. It is not like individuals as a whole instantly stop exercising or start eating greater portion sizes. There is a more general progression to a less healthy lifestyle. That's where all this fatness comes from. It doesn't come from this factor or that one. It comes from an entire lifestyle.

A Diet Of Processed Foods

As any city shifts its attention and consumption to a diet more heavily based on processed foods then the people in that city are bound to start gaining weight. Processed foods are, unintentionally, designed for weight gain. With natural foods you can only eat so many calories before your stomach fills up. With the high caloric content of processed foods, filling up the same stomach takes a much greater number of calories. This is already enough to cause weight gain.

Add in the higher fat content and the weight gain that comes along with processed sugar and the problem only gets worse. Then realize that the processed sugar and other chemicals create addiction in people so they no longer eat purely out of hunger but also out of a craving for processed sugar and other substances. Processed foods, by their very makeup, are meant to make people fat.

A Sedentary Lifestyle

This increase in processed foods is often matched by a lifestyle that is lacking in physical activity. When people work at jobs where they sit or barely move all day then their caloric needs are less. When they drive to and from work then that is more time spent being inactive. Taking in more calories and moving less is the recipe for weight gain.
