It is simply one extra step to ensure the new post is read and to give the site that extra Google boost. Most website publishers find marketing articles though a directory is the best way to go, because it brings targeted traffic to their websites. In other words, it brings readers with an interest in the content, and therefore, an interest in the site's ads and affiliates. Incoming links improve the website's Alexa rating, as well as its overall value and profitability.

Website publishers find marketing articles is a good step to take in order to promote their businesses, but it is not the only step. Publishers should also consider social bookmarking for those back links.
