DIY Wedding Centerpieces For Your Low Budget Wedding

Wedding table centerpieces come in all shapes and sizes and include both low budget and money-no-option alternatives.  However, where low budget is still too costly, DIY wedding centerpieces could be the ideal solution, even if you are not very creative.  Here are a few quick ideas:

No Extra Cost:

  • If you have budgeted for a wedding cake, let this double as a centerpiece.  Make sure that it takes pride of place on a designated table or plinth, surrounded by confetti or ribbons (confetti can be made for nothing if you use the decorative punch-outs from your hand-made wedding invitations)!

  • Take a walk in the woods for rustic inspiration: fir cones can be arranged attractively with woodland or home-grown flowers; berry branches and ferny fronds can also be used to great decorative effect if you have a bit of flair – just make sure that it’s OK to pick them where you find them, and never pull up by the roots!

Minimal Extra Cost:

  • If you have a garden and time is on your side, grow the plants/flowers that you need.  This is ideal if your wedding is in Spring or Summer – decorate pots in advance (lots of low-cost ideas on how to do this are available on-line, which are sure to inspire you).  This is also a great way of ensuring a colour-match to your theme at a low cost!  Plant bulbs or seedlings out of season when they are cheaper, and grow lovingly until the big day.  Add ribbon to the pots or create ribbon sticks to include in the pot on the day!

  • As above, if your wedding coincides with the flowering time of herbs such as camomile and chives, or lavender for luck, these would also make simple but lovely smelling centerpieces which could then be given away as useful gifts to special guests.

  • Candles come in a range of colours, shapes and sizes and can be bought in bulk very cheaply, so you will be sure of finding something to suit your theme that can be used in many ways to create soft-glow centerpieces that will be sure to be admired.  Just make sure that any decorative items you add to make holders or candle-wreaths are not of a flammable material (particularly important as the candle will burn down).

So, there are a few ideas to get you started. Just remember that even if your budget dictates that you will need DIY wedding centerpieces, rather than expensive, ready made items, there is no reason why they will have to look DIY or homemade: set some time aside to research ideas on-line, then experiment and you will be surprised at what you can achieve!
