Employee Background Screening For Drugs Makes Sense

Anytime a company needs to have sober employees, they may want to conduct a background screening for drugs. This can be done before an applicant is hired, anytime there is an accident or randomly. It is vital to make sure that all staff members or future staff members sign a document stating that they know that they may be screened for drugs at any time or for the reasons stipulated in the agreement.

Sometimes, companies are going to need to have their employees go through employee drug screening in order to ensure the safety of the company. There are employee background check companies that also offer drug checks for those companies who wish it. The employee simply goes to their office and gives a urine or hair sample that is going to be tested for drugs.

When the results come back, the employer is going to know if the employee is actually on drugs or if they are clean. There is a difference between a urine and hair test. The urine is only going to show drugs that have been taken that are still in the urine and are more short term. A hair test can show all the drugs that have been done up to a year after the drugs have been taken.

Before a company implements an employee background screening for drugs, they should have all employees sign a waiver that gives them the right to do so. This is going to protect the company and gives the employees the right to refuse. In some states, this waiver may be mandatory, so check with state employment laws when they are in question.

Employee background screening for drugs is a great way to see if an employee is intoxicated on drugs while at work. If there is an accident, the staff members involved should always be checked. It is a simple process that does not take much time for the employer or employee.
