Getting One-Way Links and Their Benefit

When it comes to getting started in the internet marketing arena, there are really two key aspects that help to drive your business if you are building website. Those are the content that you put on your own website as well the content that you submit to a place like an article directory and the other key component is getting links to your site. Most internet marketers start off like a ball of fire blazing a trail of content that gets them 10 or 20 posts on their site but as they check their stats, they are surprised to not see visitor traffic flowing in as quickly as they would like.

One of the ways to help gain visitors and dollars for your site is by improving traffic. There are several ways this can be accomplished but the fastest way it is done is through getting backlinks to your home page and then to your internal post pages. While getting links coming into the site helps, not every link will carry the same amount of weight.

You will tend to see a blogroll section on most WordPress blogs which usually represents a reciprocal link trade between two sites. This serves as a link but Google recognizes this by seeing the link on each site and does not give it as much juice as say a one-way link. If person A has two websites and you have one, you can then do a three-way trade, where he gives a link from his site A and then you give a link back to his site B. That way each of your sites are getting a one-way link which carries a little more juice.

There are also three other ways to go about getting one-way links coming into your site. One of the best ways to get natural one-way links is by writing good content. There seems to be a misconception for some people that a niche site is just a bunch of trash articles thrown up on a site where you hope people will leave and click a Google Adsense ad on the way out. What you really want is good content where the reader gets something out of your site and still clicks the ad. By having good content, you have a great way to get people linking into your site, or maybe they tell several of their friends about the site and you get some additional traffic. Either way, having good content on your site is key, especially if you are trying to become a market leader in the niche.

A free article directory serves as another great way to get one-way links coming into your site. Almost all of these are free to use unless you use an article submitter service. Whichever site you choose, the only caveat is to make sure that the site is DoFollow so when your links are placed you get credit for them. Not all directories are DoFollow so make sure you pick the right want before wasting an article on something that is not going to give you value.

These two steps are really all that you need to succeed. Some other people will recommend social bookmarking or commenting on blogs or in forums, but there is no guarantee you are going to get a link from spending time on that task. The time is takes you go through that exercise, you could have already submitted two or three articles to a directory and have moved on to other tasks.
