Black mold is a kind of fungus that can grow on any damp surface. Molds can be seen on grouts, walls, ceilings and even on wooden surface. So, if you have a set of wooden furniture at home, there are chances that you will find mold spores on them. Any surface that is exposed to moisture is an ideal place for mold growth. Another very important thing is that mold spores are airborne particles and extremely small in size. That is why they can spread very quickly. However, you can get rid of those nasty black molds, if you know the right way of removing them. The most effective way to
remove black mold from wood is discussed below.
Check your wooden furniture often for any traces of black mold on them. If you find it in the initial stage, it will be easier to clean it. If the mold spores persist for a long time on the wood, they grow deeper into the surface and become harder to remove.
Once you have detected the
black mold on wood, don’t start removing it right away in its dry state. Since the spores are airborne, they will spread in the air and settle in other surfaces. Always remember to dampen the affected area before beginning the black mold removal process. Sprinkle some clean water on the affected surface of wood to dampen it. Then take some warm water in a container and add a little amount of bleach and detergent to it. Mix this solution well and sprinkle on the dampen area of the wood. Using the bleaching solution is the best way to get rid of molds on wood.
Now take an old toothbrush and gently scrub the area with it for a few minutes. Scrub the entire affected area of the wood so that no spores of mold are left on the surface. After scrubbing, wash the wood with clean water and wipe it with a piece of dry cloth. Make sure the wood dries completely after you have cleaned it. You may use a fan or dryer to speed up the drying process for
black mold removal.
