How To Remove Hard Water Stains From Glass

Removing hard water stains from glass is not that difficult if you stay on top of the hard water accumulation. When you wait until the stains become very thick and opaque then getting rid of them can and will be much more difficult. Luckily, even if you have bad hard water stains on your glass shower door or window, you can remove these stains with household items and do not always have to resort to using harsh chemicals and cleaners.

The best way to remove hard water stains from glass is to take some lemon juice, white vinegar, and baking soda and make a paste out of it. You will then rub down the glass surface with a glass-safe scrubbing pad using the paste. If you use small circular scrubbing motions the cleaning paste should start to break up the hard water stains naturally and with relative ease in comparison to hard scrubbing with standard glass cleaner.

Depending on the severity of the hard water stains you may need to work in sections or to work in stages. Once you go over a surface you can rinse it off and clean it with a glass cleaner as you ordinarily would. If the hard water stains are still present in certain areas you can go another round with the glass surface and your hard water stain removal paste. Clean each area thoroughly and take as many rounds as you need. It’s almost like removing paint and stain from exterior siding layer by layer.

The trick to cleaning hard water stains is the concoction that works to break up the mineral deposits and the constant maintenance of surfaces. If you constantly clean your glass surfaces with this type of a paste then the deposits will rarely buildup to a point in which you notice them and see them without close inspection. Keeping the surface clear of hard water deposits on a constant basis will make maintenance much easier for you down the road.
