When lighting an outdoor area such as a garden, backyard or patio, one must ensure that every light fixture is rated for outdoor use. If an indoor light is used outdoors, you could easily cause a short. Also, the materials used in indoor lights can quickly degrade in the weather. However, many outdoor lights are more industrial looking than the beautiful ones we use indoors. One exception to this rule is lantern lights. These
garden lights are rated for outdoor use and are beautiful at the same time. Not many other outdoor lights can make this claim.
Garden lantern lights are different from the ones used during camping in that they are designed for decoration. They are meant for users to select a hanging spot in the garden and set them up for semi-permanent use. Most do not generate enough light to illuminate an entire area. Lantern lights have several side panels from where the light can shine through. Unlike conventional lanterns which used candles, modern day ones use LED lights inside. Light pours out of all sides to create a subtle yet noticeable glow. When many are placed among garden shrubbery, an appealing effect is achieved.
Candlelight is simulated through the use of colored side panels which often exhibit an amber color. Some light bulbs flicker on and off in an attempt to similar a swaying candle flame. Others have whimsical colors like purple and red.
Hanging a lantern light is easy because many have a hook on the top. Users can place a hook on the mounting surface or use a sticky clip. Some people like to keep their lanterns close to the ground by putting them on a metal Sheppard’s hook. Lanterns also work well when placed at the center of a table as a centerpiece. Through creative expression, one can find unlimited uses for a lantern light.
