Save Money by Using a 5 Gallon Water Bottle

It seems like everywhere you look these days, you see people drinking out of small plastic water bottles.  They are sold pretty much everywhere – department stores, convenience stores, even gas stations.  It wasn't so long ago that people would think you were crazy if you actually bought a bottle of water.  These days, people give you funny looks if you drink out of the water fountain!  Although not much has changed as far as water quality is concerned, drinking bottled water is extremely popular now.

While doing this is ok, there are some effects that you should be aware of.  The first is that the costs can slowly add up overtime if you are in the habit of buying a small bottle of water every time you feel thirsty.  In many stores, the price of a one liter bottle of water is the same as one that is 4 times as big.  The amount of water in the bottle seems to be irrelevant, since it is the packaging and advertising that makes them cost so much.  It is not uncommon for people to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars over the course of a year on bottled water.

If you are concerned about the quality of water at your house and feel like you need to buy water, the best thing for you to do is to get yourself a 5 gallon water bottle.  These are those huge plastic ones that you see in offices.  Although you can easily arrange to have these bottles delivered, you can save yourself a lot of money by filling them up yourself.  In many locations all over the world, you can see water filling machines.  Simply bring your empty bottle to one of them and for about 50 cents, you can fill it up.  That's right, for less than the price of a tiny bottle at a store, you can fill a super sized water bottle up.  If you want to keep it cold, simply pour some of it out into a smaller bottle and stick it in one of the mini bar fridges at work.
