While there are obvious uses for a full sized refrigerator, it is not immediately obvious what the wide range of
small fridge freezers on the marketplace are intended for. This article briefly outlines some of the more common type and uses of small refrigerators.
Probably the most common users of small fridges are those of us who have small kitchens. Not everyone can fit a large fridge in their house, so they pursue other options.
At the very low end it is possible to simply plug a cheap portable refrigerator into the wall of your kitchen. While lacking in style and high-tech features, this option certainly delivers the required functionality – i.e. cooling – with a minimum of fuss and expense.
Another option for the small fridge is slimline fridge freezers, these relatively narrow appliances can be squeezed between two objects that are too close together for a full size fridge. This option gives most of the functionality - and similar appearance - of a large refrigerator in a smaller area.
Thirdly, if you have a little more money to spend, you can purchase an under cabinet fridge freezer. These appliances are relatively expensive, but have a certain style that the options discussed earlier lack. If having a beautiful kitchen is important to you this option is probably a good choice.
Outside of the kitchen, you will often see a small fridge being used in a mini bar.
Bar fridges are popular additions to many homes. These appliances can be had in either of two basic forms – an expensive fully featured specialized mini bar fridge, or as a generic compact fridge re-tasked to store drinks.
As well as in the bar, this kind of fridge is hugely popular in office spaces and college dormitories. The ability to refrigerate supplies in places people spend a lot of their time is always welcome.
So far we have just discussed conventional uses for refrigerators. There are also a range of popular outdoor uses for a small fridge freezer.
For in vehicle use, 12v car fridges are very popular. These specially designed fridges are built to run for a long time in a vehicle without draining the battery too far.
Apart from car fridges, there are also many fans of camping and RV fridges. These fridges are usually 3 way fridges; which are powered by mains electricity, 12v DC current or LPG. The wide selection of usable power sources make these small fridge freezers ideal for use in a wide variety of locations, where grid power cannot always be guaranteed.
Clearly, there is no shortage of applications for small fridge freezers – big is not always best.
