How to Choose a Standing Coat Rack

You may be looking for a standing coat rack to hold all of you outerwear since you do not have a hall closet for this purpose. Or you may just be interested in finding an interesting accent piece for a hallway or foyer. Whatever the reason, there are a wide variety of coat racks that will fit in with any type of room decor.

Standing coat racks may even be useful for people who have enough closet space in their home, but could use an easily accessible place to hang outerwear quickly as you come in the door. Children and teenagers are much more likely to hang their jacket on a coat rack than open a closet door and find a hanger for the coat.

So, what type of standing coat rack should you buy? Well, it really depends upon your taste in furniture and the other furnishings you already have. For a traditional or colonial style decor, take a look at the wooden coat racks trimmed with brass accents. A cost rack with an umbrella stand looks great in a traditional foyer. Wrought iron or a simple mission style coat rack would be another good choice for this type of decor.

If you like contemporary style furniture, there are many modern designs of standing coat racks to choose from. Furniture stores and online retailers would be a good place to start your search. Polished chrome and painted wood are just a couple of the looks you could go with. You can now even find standing racks that go in a modern bathroom for towels and robes.

If function is more important to you than style, then look for an attractive standing coat rack that will hold as many coats and accessories as possible. In this case, make the sturdiness of the coat rack a priority when you are shopping. You do not want a flimsy or unstable coat rack when trying to hang more than a few coats up. Good luck with your search for the perfect coat rack!
